Introduction
David was trained by the Portal Group of Companies in Water and Waste Water Treatment, he has worked with WHO (World Health Organisation) and the Peace Keeping Forces. Whilst initially specialising in water treatment and desalination, in the last decade he has primarily worked in the pollution control industry and has been innovative in the use of reed beds for sewage treatment in the UK. Reed Beds or Constructed Wetlands are a natural form of sewage treatment which utilises gravels and reeds such as the Phragmites Australis to naturally treat the sewage effluent without the use of electricity or mechanical parts. Industrial effluent can also be treated by the use of reed beds, the type of planting will vary depending on the application. Although the Reed Beds and private drainage schemes such as septic tanks are usually found in rural areas, there are a surprising number of installations in suburban or industrial areas such as business or enterprise parks.

Have rucksack, will travel!
You will very rarely find David in the office, he is a field engineer and is at his best on site designing and supervising Water and Sewage Treatment Schemes. The work is varied, one day irrigation schemes for golf clubs or garden centres, the next, flood prevention schemes in Africa. No two days are ever the same and that`s the way he likes it!. His motto, have rucksack will travel is literal, just add his mobile phone and computer and he will see you soon.
