Technology Transfer

Technology Transfer is the training of an individual or Company, using established technology with which they are unfamiliar. This training enables them to manage their own company or to start up a new enterprise. For example; the design and manufacture of small domestic Sewage Treatment Plants or the batching of Chemical Water Treatment Products. David has trained numerous individuals and companies, and they have gone on to be successful in their own right. Listed below are a few examples.

Water Treatment Chemical Products - Ghana

David visited Ghana to try and establish if the bi-products of the timber industry, (disregarded locally) could protect Steam Boilers and Cooling Water equipment that was experiencing scale and corrosion problems in West Africa. The visit was an inter-government funded mission. David contacted a local university, and working together, it was confirmed that local waste products could be blended to make water treatment products. Blending products in-Country reduces expensive imports, increases availability of the product and improves the opportunity to export and earn foreign exchange.

Bi Lateral Rupee Agreement - India & Iran

When neighbours can barter, technology transfer can be extremely attractive. Iran has possibly the largest number of working steam boilers. When Scaling Salts precipitate on a boiler tube, some can be as much as ten times as efficient as asbestos as an insulating material. The type and thickness of the deposit determines the extent to which heat transfer is reduced. Clearly controlling such a scale can improve longevity of the boiler, prevent internal damage as well as reducing fuel costs. Over a four month period, well proven applications and formulations were produced to supply Iran with much needed boiler water technology.

        Nitrate Removal - Cyprus

Removing nitrates from water requires experience and a controlled method statement. Large filters were manufactured in-Country under David`s supervision, only the media and valves were imported. The first application for a village water supply worked extremely well, many more schemes followed after David left their warm shores - rumour has it that his rucksack was filled with oranges!

Sewage Treatment in The West Indies

One night after returning from aqua diving off the coast of Antigua, David noticed that the smell from the local sewage treatment works serving a large hotel resulted in many of the residents leaving the next morning. Over a few bottle of red wine and promises of free future accommodation from the management, design changes were made to the existing plant using local equipment and materials. A phased expansion is planned for the hotel and at the same time the treatment works will be upgraded - needless to say, the only guest that leave now are happy guests at the end of their holidays.
